Newsletter

The 3rd edition of our newsletter, Anamaya is just published (Link). This is how we conclude.
In this edition, we talked about the importance of mental health. Recently, there was an institute wide campaign on this. We had a reach out program for the students that came with fun games, activities and a blackout, but most importantly, it came with a message, a message that you are not alone. Every problem, every situation can be dealt with the right kind of help and sharing your fears and anxieties with your friends, family and teachers (who were an integral part of this program).
In the end, the newsletter team wishes you good (mental and physical) health, mourns the loss of two students and hopes that the tragic accident will be taken as a lesson for something that hopefully will never be repeated again. Reach out, stay healthy and keep asking yourself and the others...R U OK?
Keep the flame burning.

Session: 16th April

For students registered in this program:    Leave Application   Feedback/Suggestion

This was the last session of this semester. At IIT Kharagpur, students remain associated with an EAA program in first and second year of their stay i.e. for first four semesters. The activity is monitored / supervised directly by faculty members and trained professionals. This NSO Health and Fitness program in its new edition, was started three semesters back. The 2nd year students who grew up with the program, as it got evolved and stabilized, can consider themselves as founding member, and can carry with them a special sense of belonging with the program. The last session, in a sense, was their farewell session. We felt nostalgic. We felt emotional. But we did not allow it to overpower us and we stuck to our task. The following pictures show how the session went. In our next post, we shall share videos of this session. A student who graduate from this program is the best ambassador of the program. It is a new dawn where we have to take responsibility on our own when there is no faculty or instructor standing before of us, or fellow 900 students joining us in the field. Let us shrug off the feeling of emptiness as we are sure that wherever we are, serving in whatever capacity, we shall continue to practise and propagate the message of health and happiness.

Session: 12th April

For students registered in this program:    Leave Application   Feedback/Suggestion

Unit 5, 9 and 10 conducted a training program on Yoga by eminent expert from famous 'Patanjali Yoga Peeth'. It was found very effective by participating students. This was special as it happened in the concluding day of 'Reach Out Week'. Presented below is a spontaneous feedback mailed by a young student.
With due respect,I am writing this to let you know that the special activity conducted by the Health and fitness team on 12/04/2014 was very encouraging and moral boosting activity for me(Unit-9). It was a pleasure to receive some knowledge in the field of Yoga from the experts themselves. Besides this,I would like to suggest you that such types of activities should take place frequently because practicing on a regular basis will keep our mind healthy which is a must for students at IIT. If the authority can arrange a yoga instructor on weekly basis,it would be great to practice regular calisthenic and isometric exercises on wednesday's and yoga classes on saturday's. I am saying so because the exercises that we do regularly focuses more on physical development and lags in mental development which can be overcomed by practicing Yoga on weekly basis. I hope you consider my suggestion. WITH REGARDS
We wish to work on this and other feedback in coming semester and get the most out of this program. The morning training session at Jnan Ghosh stadium wen on as per schedule with rest of the units. Here are few pictures of that session.
