Three units, Unit 1, 2, 3 and 4 conducted a special activity program on 'Disaster Management' on 05th April, 2014. MD. Abdul Gani, Professor, Natural Disaster Management (NDM), Administrative Training Institute, Government of West Bengal conducted the training. It had presentation, video show followed by Q & A session.
Disaster management (or emergency management) is the term used to designate the efforts of communities or businesses to plan for and coordinate all the personnel and materials required to either mitigate the effects of, or recover from, natural or man-made disasters, or acts of terrorism. Disaster management does not avert or eliminate the threats, although their study is an important part of the field. Events covered by disaster management include acts of terrorism, industrial sabotage, fire, natural disasters (such as earthquakes, hurricanes, etc.), public disorder, industrial accidents, and communication failures. Our students got important inputs and we hope to remain physically and mentally alert to mitigate any such unfortunate event.
