For students registered in this program: Leave Application Feedback/Suggestion
The aim of
NSO Health and fitness is to improve quality of health of students. To inspire
others who are not part of it and also to engage the students part of it, a
special activity is organized by each unit.
As a part
of special activity to be conducted by different units, Unit 6 under guidance
of the program coordinator decided to do bicycle rally. On 22nd October, Sunday
students from the unit joined the rally at Gnan Ghosh at 8:30AM, it was planned
to be a 10KM ride. The climate was supportive not being too hot.
“The weather was favorable to enjoy the event
as was the route. The route traversed the boundary road of the campus after
passing through the hostels, which consisted of the boundary walls on one side
and huge expanses of wild grass on the other. It was the first time freshers in
our unit realized how big the IIT Kgp campus actually was.” – says a first year
student Hrishyank.
And for
some it happened to be a quite learning experience.“I got to know about the
rules to be followed by cyclist while cycling and rules to be followed by a
person while driving a car about which side we have to show while turning.” –
says Naveen who took part in it.
Some
refreshed themselves in the open greenery and fresh air. “The lush greenery and
the fresh air energized the students to keep pressing the cycle pedal harder
and explore the various places in the campus.” –says Rameshwar another student
who took part.
In this
way it was a very wonderful experience roaming around the campus with friends,
visiting unseen and unexplored places. And at the same time having sufficient
exercise to body and inspiring others to take care of their health in different
ways possible.
Finally
though students were tired, when they were all enjoying the journey with their
friends, then suddenly appeared the ending point to the disappointment of many.
After around 2 hours of intense cycling from 8:30 to 10:30 the rally was
concluded and
students
returned to their normal activities. But many expressed a desire to have such
different activities, as a refreshment from studies and regular duties.
Hope these
activities will come more and students will feel refreshed and take part in
them actively.
