Tomorrow is the 5th September, Teacher's Day. We got a new teacher today. He is not exactly new to this program. Last semester he was on a supporting role helping students in the field while the teacher from NCC Air Wing, Corporal Josh conducted the training. This semester, in his re-engagement, he takes the role of the demonstrator. He is our new fitness teacher, Mr. Sudhir Kumar, enrolled as Physical Training Instructor (P.T.I.) of Gymkhana, IIT Kharagpur. He also serves as NCC (EME) Officer. We thank higher authority of the institute for catalyzing the process whereby Mr. Sudhir restarts his service to this program.
The session started with a word of 'Thanks' to our student trainers who did an excellent job before. What followed a very, very rewarding basic fitness training, ably conducted by Mr. Sudhir. We learnt many new exercises. In certain exercises, we learnt what it means by gradual loading and how the intensity can be increased in steps. For example, stretched hands first started making smaller circles clockwise / anti-clockwise and then gradually bigger circles. We also learnt more of counter-balancing in many a exercises.
In the end, our teacher told a very important thing. At school / college days, we often can maintain certain level of fitness without doing much on fitness training. Soon we'll join job or take up a professional career. We shall realize at that time the value of this training more. Therefore, we should all try our best to get the most out of this training. Thank you, teacher. Thank you very much for the lesson given.
Three videos from today's session is available in these links (Link1, Link2, Link3) and also in the embedded video player appearing below.
P.S. All the students were sensitized again on special activities and their role. One campaign from common list and its inter-unit competition is planned before mid-sem. exam. The newsletter team has completed membership for editorial / design team today. There will be a group meeting this evening after class hour.
